The Game

I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. (NIV) My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. (MSG) John 10:10

The Game

My sister and I loved playing board games when we were younger. That is until one of us became disgruntled and began accusing, “ you cheated! I’m not playing with you any more!” Now my grandkids like playing board games like Monopoly, Clue, and Candyland.

I get a kick out of watching them interact. Not long ago, on a Saturday they were in the midst of a cutthroat game of monopoly. One of the kids basically was ‘on the sidelines’ even though he was playing. He was casually playing, not ‘into it’. Nor was he enjoying what was going on with the others much. He was playing the game, but he wasn’t really in it.

In our lives, we can know all about God. We can know about Jesus. We can even know about the Holy Spirit. Key word, about. We can know about them, but if we don’t know them, it is purely information and we’re missing out.

Information is not a relationship.

The game plan is for us to get off the sidelines, know the Lord, and have a great life. Not perfect, but good. The game plan God wrote out for us is crystal clear in His book. The Bible is the diagram for the game, right there in black and white (and red).

Life –-you’re missing out if it’s all about info, kinda like looking in from the outside. Get off the sidelines and into the game! In Jesus’ name-
